Suspected herdsmen kill five in Benue community

Five persons were on Tuesday night killed by suspected herdsmen in Ayilamo and Mahanga settlements Tombo ward, Logo Local Government area of Benue state.  The Nation reported that the armed herdsmen launched the attacks on the farming communities around 10.20pm on Tuesday, October 17, after people settled in their houses.  While five persons were killed at the spot, many others sustained various degrees of injuries and were referred to Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi, from Ayilamo Health Centre, which was overwhelmed with the number of casualties. Eyewitnesses told the publication that the killer herdsmen first launched attacks on Mobile Barracks located on Anyiin- Ayilamo road in Mahanga settlement, killing two persons in a thatched house. They reportedly thereafter moved to  Ayilamo, Headquarters of Tombo ward and shot three persons to death. Those killed were brought to Ayilamo Comprehensive Health Centre on Wednesday morning for their loved ones to identify them.  Security Adviser to the Governor, Chief Joe Har confirmed the attack and killings. He gave the names of those killed as Ayev Jgun(MbavihiMbazar); Faiga Mwuese Apefan (Mbazar); Msendoo Tertese Vaachia(Mbagum); James Mhen Nyerga Iorliam(Tse-IhynIwendyer) and Orgbee Mnguerorga(Tse-NyajoMbaiwem). The post Suspected herdsmen kill five in Benue community appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
