A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timothy Osadolor, has berated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appealing against the court rulings which ordered the release of his academic records.
Recall that the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois had ordered the Chicago State University (CSU) to release Tinubu’s academic record to former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, by Monday, October 2.
In the latest judgement, Judge Nancy Maldonado of the US Court noted that CSU raised no objection to Judge Jeffery Gilbert’s decision that Tinubu’s academic records be made public.
Atiku is seeking the court papers to further strengthen his case in the petition challenging the declaration of Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the February 25 election in Nigeria.
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) argued that Tinubu did not graduate from CSU as claimed in his academic records.
But reacting to the latest judgement of the US court ordering the release of President Tinubu’s records, Osadolor stated that the appeals by the president were needless and unnecessary.
The PDP National Deputy Youth Leader, in an interview with The PUNCH, said the appeals show that President Tinubu was hiding something from Nigerians.
Osadolor stated that the judgment of the US Court would reinforce Atiku’s appeal before the Supreme Court.
He said, “If he was convinced that has had nothing to hide, there was no need for those appeals against the courts.
“Tinubu is not who he claims to be, and that is what our candidate and our party want to prove.”
However, the legal team of President Tinubus has said the academic records would not be admissible in the Supreme Court for the purpose of prosecuting the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.
